How to solve a 3x3
I'm going to show how I solve a 3x3 Rubik’s cube because I want to.
Continue reading below the cut for a guide on how to solve a 3x3.
First you need to orientate yourself on the cube otherwise you will lose where you are and get confused, I recommend doing this with the white face. To keep yourself orientated, have the white face facing up as often as you can, this will help you from losing where you are on the cube.
I am going to solve the cube layer by layer, going from top to bottom.
Step 1 - White Cross
Start by finding a white edge piece and identify the other colour attached to it, align it with it's corresponding centre (red with red, blue with blue, green with green, and orange with orange) and rotate that face so the edge piece lines up with the white on top.
Make sure to not rotate the white face for the rest of this step.
Do the same for the other three white edge pieces until you have a white cross with all the colours lining up with the corresponding centres.
Step 2 - White Corners
The corners will be in one of three orientations when on the bottom layer, facing left, facing right, and facing down. Make sure not to rotate the top layer during this step.
Start by finding a white corner and identifying the two other colours attached to it, identify where on the top layer that corner goes without losing the corner, then, rotate the bottom layer so that the corner sits under where it belongs on the top layer.
Facing right
When looking at the cube, if the white is facing towards the right, rotate the cube so the white of the corner is facing you, keeping the white face facing up.
Rotate the bottom layer to the right, bring the left side of the cube down towards you, rotate the bottom layer back so the white corner is where it was just before, and then rotate the left side of the cube back up, the white corner in now in place. (D L D' L')
Facing left
When looking at the cube, if the white is facing towards the right, rotate the cube so the white of the corner is facing you, keeping the white face facing up.
Rotate the bottom layer to the left, bring the right side of the cube down towards you, rotate the bottom layer back so the white corner is where it was just before, and then rotate the right side of the cube back up, the white corner in now in place. (D' R' D R)
Facing down
If the white of the corner is facing down, orientate the cube so that the white corner is to the left of the front facing face and bring the left side of the cube down towards you, rotate the bottom layer twice, then bring the left side of the cube back up.
Move the white corner back under where it goes and follow one of the above two edge cases.
If a corner is in an incorrect corner position or orientated incorrectly on the top layer, use one of the first two edge cases to take the corner out before setting it to be put back in again.
Follow these instructions to get all the corners in place.
The top layer is now done, time to move onto the middle layer. This is where algorithms are going to come into play, that's what those letters in brackets were, if you are not familiar with Rubik's cube notation I recommend learning as all guides will use it, don't worry it's really easy to pick up.
I might make a short guide on Rubik's cube notation in the future in the future.
Step 3 - Getting edges into place
Start by finding an edge piece with no yellow, identify what two centres it belongs between and rotate the bottom layer so that the colour on the front facing side of the edge piece lines up with the corresponding centre. Hold the cube so that the edge piece you are trying to get in place is facing you.
If the other colour on the edge piece is to the right, follow this algorithm:
D' R' D R D F D' F
If the other colour on the edge piece is to the left, follow this algorithm:
D L D' L' D' F' D F
If an edge piece is already in the middle layer but is in the wrong place or in the wrong orientation, use one of the two above algorithms to get it out.
Continue until the middle layer is filled.
Now it is time for the final layer, this is the most complicated layer as there an many steps involved. From here there are going to be many photos of the yellow layer facing up, this is to make visualising easier, I'm still solving with the white face facing up.
I do however rotate the cube to see what's going on on the bottom layer when solving, BUT, I always orientate the cube so the white face is facing up before starting any algorithms or rotating any faces to not confuse myself.
Step 4 - Yellow cross
The bottom layer will be in one of four states, a dot, an L, a line, or a cross, we want the bottom layer to have a cross, this algorithm:
R F D F' D' R'
Will be used to move between each state for this step.
In this step we only care about the edges so you can ignore the corners for now.
Yellow Dot
If the yellow face has a dot, perform the algorithm from any face, it doesn't matter.
The L
If the yellow face has an L, have the pointing to your right shoulder so that one of the yellow edges that are facing down is towards the back of the cube and the other is to the left of the cube, perform the algorithm.
The Line
If the yellow face has a line, have the line pointing towards you so that one of the yellow edges that are facing down is towards the back of the cube and the other is opposite it, towards the front of the cube, perform the algorithm.
You should now have a yellow cross.
I'll explain what this algorithm does using the image below as a reference.
Treating the pieces on the bottom as the pieces at the back of the cube and the pieces on the top as the pieces at the front of the cube when performing the algorithms.
The bottom piece doesn't move, the three other pieces are rotated counter-clockwise. The pieces on the left and right getting flipped and the piece on top stays in it's orientation.
Step 5 - Orientating the corners
In this step we only care about the corners so you can ignore the edges for now.
This is going to be a long step as there are many different edge cases and I will be going through each one, explaining how to identify them, as well as showing pictures to help visualise, explaining what angle to take them at, and which edge case they lead to. The final two edge cases that lead to the next step will be the final two I go over.
In this step we are going to orientate the corners so the yellow is facing down.
There are two algorithms that will be used in this step, they are essentially the same algorithm, just flipped to the other side of the cube, I'll be referring to them as the left algorithm and the right algorithm.
The left algorithm: L D L' D L D2 L'
The right algorithm: R' D' R D' R' D2 R
Edge case - Predator Eyes
This edge case has two opposing corners orientated correctly and the other two opposing, non-orientated corners both facing towards one of the correctly orientated corners.
Both algorithms can be used on this edge case.
Have one of the non-orientated corners facing you and the other facing to the left and perform the left algorithm, this will take you to the Right Final edge case.
Have one of the non-orientated corners facing you and the other facing to the right and perform the right algorithm, this will take you to the Left Final edge case.
Edge case - Double Headlights
This edge case has two sets of headlights, two corners facing the same direction on the same face. All corners are non-orientated, two corners face the same direction on the same face while the other two face the other direction on the opposing face.
Both algorithms can be used on this edge case.
Have the headlights face your left and right, none of the headlights should be facing you or away from you, perform the left algorithm, this will take you to the Left Final edge case.
Have the headlights face your left and right, none of the headlights should be facing you or away from you, perform the right algorithm, this will take you to the Right Final edge case.
Edge case - Prey Caught In Headlights
This edge case has one set of headlights, two corners facing the same direction on the same face. All corners are non-orientated, two corners face the same direction on the same face. The opposing corners face away from each other, sitting on the faces to the left and right of the headlights.
Both algorithms can be used on this edge case.
Have the headlights facing towards the right with one of the other corners facing towards you, and the other facing away from you. Perform the left algorithm, this will take you to the Left Final edge case.
Have the headlights facing towards the left with one of the other corners facing towards you, and the other facing away from you. Perform the right algorithm, this will take you to the Right Final edge case.
Edge case - Single Headlights
This edge case has a single set of headlights, two corners facing the same direction on the same face, the other two corners are orientated correctly.
Both algorithms can be used on this edge case.
Have the headlights facing you, perform the left algorithm, this will take you to the Right Final edge case.
Have the headlights facing you, perform the right algorithm, this will take you to the Left Final edge case.
Edge case - Prey Eyes
This edge case has two corners next to each other correctly orientated, the other two corners are facing opposite directions from each other on opposite faces.
Both algorithms can be used on this edge case.
Have the correctly orientated corners on the left side of the cube with the non-oriented corners on the right side of the cube, one of the non-orientated corners should be facing you while the other should be facing away from you. Perform the left algorithm, this will take you to the Right Final edge case.
Have the correctly orientated corners on the right side of the cube with the non-oriented corners on the left side of the cube, one of the non-orientated corners should be facing you while the other should be facing away from you. Perform the right algorithm, this will take you to the Left Final edge case.
Edge case - Left Final
This edge case has one corner correctly orientated, the other three all face towards the right when looking at them.
Have the orientated corner to the right of the cube on the face facing you, on the left of the cube on the face facing you, should be a corner facing you, there should be a corner facing left in the same position on the left face as the one on the front face, and a corner facing away from you in the same position but on the back face, there should be no corners facing the right face. Perform left algorithm, this will take you to the Corners Orientated edge case.
Edge case - Right Final
This edge case has one corner correctly orientated, the other three all face towards the left when looking at them.
Have the orientated corner to the left of the cube on the face facing you, on the right of the cube on the face facing you, should be a corner facing you, there should be a corner facing right in the same position on the right face as the one on the front face, and a corner facing away from you in the same position but on the back face, there should be no corners facing the left face. Perform right algorithm, this will take you to the Corners Orientated edge case.
Edge case - Corners Orientated
The corners are now orientated correctly and we can move on to the next step.
I'll explain what these algorithms do using the image below as a reference.
Treating the pieces on the bottom as the pieces at the back of the cube and the pieces on the top as the pieces at the front of the cube when performing the algorithms.
The left algorithm moves all the corners to the space diagonal from their current position. The corner in the top right keeps its orientation while the other three are reorientated in a clockwise direction.
The right algorithm moves all the corners to the space diagonal from their current position. The corner in the top left keeps its orientation while the other three are reorientated in a counter-clockwise direction.
Step 6 - Positioning the corners
In this step we only care about the corners so you can ignore the edges for now.
This will thankfully be a much shorter step as there are only three edge cases, one being the one that moves us to the final step.
For this step there is only one algorithm: L' F L' B2 L F' L' B2 L2
For this step we are looking for coloured headlights on one of the faces, if there are three or four sets of coloured headlights then you can skip over this step and continue onto step 7, if there are no coloured headlights that is good as well, keep following this step.
If there are no coloured headlights, perform the algorithm. There should now be a single pair of coloured headlights.
Have the headlights face away from you and perform the algorithm.
The cube is now ready for the final step.
I'll explain what this algorithm does using the image below as a reference.
Treating the pieces on the bottom as the pieces at the back of the cube and the pieces on the top as the pieces at the front of the cube when performing the algorithms.
The top right piece doesn't move, the top left, and bottom two piece are rotated clockwise. The top left moving to the bottom right, the bottom right moving to the bottom left, and the bottom left moving to the top left.
Step 7 - Positioning the edges
The final step, this step has three edge cases, then the cube is solved.
There are two algorithms that will be used in this step, they are essentially the same algorithm, just flipped to the other side of the cube, I'll be referring to them as the left algorithm and the right algorithm.
The left algorithm: F2 D L' R F2 L R' D F2
The right algorithm: F2 D' L' R F2 L R' D' F2
The first edge case is four coloured headlights, the headlights will have the opposing faces edge between the headlights.
Perform either of the algorithms.
The next two edge cases look very similar, essentially there will be three sets of headlights and one bar, have the bar facing away from you, identify the colour of the centre on the face facing you.
If the edge matching that colour is on the left, perform the left algorithm.
If the edge matching that colour is on the right, perform the right algorithm.
I'll explain what these algorithms do using the image below as a reference.
Treating the pieces on the bottom as the pieces at the back of the cube and the pieces on the top as the pieces at the front of the cube when performing the algorithms.
The left algorithm rotates the top, right, and left edge pieces clockwise. The top edge piece moving to the right, the right edge piece moving to the left, and the left edge piece moving to the top.
The right algorithm rotates the top, left, and right edge pieces counter-clockwise. The top edge piece moving to the left, the left edge piece moving to the right, and the right edge piece moving to the top.
Your Rubik's cube is now solved.
Thank you for reading through my guide, I hope I was able to help you solve your 3x3 <3

as a former escape room host i highly recommend doing an escape room as a first date. its a great way to learn how ppl react under pressure and how well they collaborate with you right off the bat. also more than once ive seen people enter an escape room as a couple and exit broken up LOL its a fantastic litmus test
#i have done this as a first date and its very enlightening#ppl are usually on their best behaviors in the beginning of the relationships#so adding in a little manufactured stress for fun rly brings out ppls real personalities#in a highly controlled environment of course so that its not actually dangerous#do they yell when theyre frustrated?#do they give up?#do they take initiative to solve things or just follow your lead?#how do they react when youre wrong?#how do they react to losing?#however im biased... i just love escape rooms......

Finally caught up with Apothecary Diaries. I can't believe they gave Maomao a gun.
#the apothecary diaries#maomao#jinshi#I started watching back from the beginning and oh man...this series is a delight.#Maomao is one of my favourite protagonists for the fact she is a unique mystery lover who also loves to stay in her own lane.#She's here to solve the 'how' of the mystery but the who? Not her problem and not her job.#No crazy leaps in logic. Just a girl who loves her posions and puzzles.#I want to say so much more about this series but It really is best enjoyed as something to discover on your own! It's a mystery after all!#I want to draw some crossover art for this series so badly...Perhaps...perhaps...#This dehydration story comes from my own life - in which my flatmates have a running bit about calling sport drinks 'potions'.#This was very relevant when I was suffering from dehydration (low sodium intake + over drinking lead to a very bad time).#That's right. You can dehydrate via drinking too much water. Low sodium and low potassium can make you very ill as well.#Sometimes what you need is someone aggressively reminding you to add salt to your dishes and drink your goddamn potion.

proud to say that I have never once in my life figured out the whodunit in any crime story I've read or watched. I just let the facts and clues wash over me, absorbing absolutely none of it. I am the audience they think of when they throw in red herrings, in case you've ever wondered "who would fall for this obvious false lead". it's me. I am the idiot viewer/reader. not once has an obviously framed clue revealed anything to me. my head is completely empty when I consume these stories.
#rover rambles#I joke a lot about how stupid hastings is#but in truth I am about as good as solving these cases as he is#possibly even worse somehow#and it's not for lack of wanting to solve them#in fact I have attempted it many times#I simply am stupid

Shen Qingqiu gets hit by a rare wife plot.
And it actually is a rare one because Airplane didn't even write this one down! He toyed with the idea before ultimately dismissing it as being too controversial for the tastes of his readers, and adapting only a few of the same elements for a subsequent chapter of PIDW.
But apparently the System can pull inspiration even from the author's thoughts, especially when there's nothing to contradict the concept and even a few threads of it still to be found in the original, and somehow Shen Qingqiu runs afoul of this previously-unwritten plot bunny.
The core concept was a cuck scenario, of all things. One of the Luo Binghe's wives gets afflicted by a poison that can only be cured by dual cultivation, but specifically can't be cured by by dual cultivation with anyone who has mastery over demonic qi. Something something conflicting energies, something bullshit something. Peerless Cucumber would have ripped the chapter to shreds if it had actually made it to publication, not just for the insult of implying that Luo Binghe should let one of his wives sleep with someone else, but also because why would Luo Binghe -- able to use both kinds of cultivation -- somehow not be able to keep his demonic energies from influencing the situation just in this one case?
Well it turns out that in his specific case it's because sex gets him too worked up to keep things strictly separate, and the degree of control required to treat the affliction whilst dual cultivating is extensive enough that even a little slip-up would be fatal.
Of course, in the actual chapter of PIDW, this same plot device was altered and used to create a harem orgy where Luo Binghe oversaw several of his wives "treating" one another's "afflictions", but Shen Qingqiu just had to go and get a fatal of dose of the more severe version (he didn't realize the risk, because again, this version didn't even make it into the novel).
Anyway, of course this ends up with Shen Qingqiu trying to figure out another way to cheat death, while Luo Binghe goes through the five stages of grief before accepting that he's just going to have to let someone else fuck his husband. This leads to an argument because of course Shen Qingqiu's not going to cheat on Luo Binghe, and he's especially not going to force one of his martial siblings to sleep with him, come on now, and Luo Binghe trying not to cry tears of blood while bringing himself to explain that a fair few of Shen Qingqiu's sect siblings would be happy volunteers for this task.
Shen Qingqiu's just like, well of course you think that, for some bizarre reason you think everyone wants to sleep with me. Bias is what it is. Really it's flattering Binghe but obviously every other person we know is straight, that's just statistics, and everyone in the entire cultivation world knows that Qi Qingqi would sooner chew glass than have sex with a man!
Luo Binghe, weeping now: Shizun please. This is serious. I need you speak words that make sense in the order you're saying them.
They argue, they reach an impasse, the clock is ticking. So Luo Binghe reluctantly turns to the most reliable source of information (outside of himself) on Manipulating Shen Qingqiu to Do Things That Are in His Own Best Interests -- Shang Qinghua.
At first Shang Qinghua is like, well I'm flattered Junshang but I don't think I could shoulder the baggage of fucking Cucumber-bro for you. But then Luo Binghe is like no I need someone who is way hotter and more capable than you, if Shizun is going to fuck someone else at my behest they're going to be TOP TIER so that when I fuck him better afterwards he's really impressed with me. Liu Qingge, obviously.
Not Yue Qingyuan, Shang Qinghua asks? (He'd take the insult a little more personally but honestly he's just relieved that he's not being asked to navigate this social minefield.)
No, Luo Binghe says. He's not 100% sure he could beat Yue Qingyuan in a fight even to this day, which in his mind also translates to not being 100% sure he could do sex better than him either, so Yue Qingyuan is an emergency last resort. He's way more likely to cry on Shizun too and Shen Qingqiu is into that shit, it's too risky.
Alright, says Shang Qinghua, and he thinks about it, and then he comes up with the beautifully simple solution:
Luo Binghe has to fuck Liu Qingge first.
Because of course the crux of the issue is that even with permission, Shen Qingqiu doesn't want to cheat on Luo Binghe. But in the twisted annals of his mind, Luo Binghe himself is still entitled to a harem, even if Luo Binghe is also happily monogamous in this life. So if he shacks up with Liu Qingge first then Liu Qingge essentially joins Luo Binghe's harem, at which point if Shen Qingqiu sleeps with him it's not an affair, it's the gay version of those fanservice-y 3P scenes that the wives in PIDW did. Shang Qinghua translates the concept as best as he can to Luo Binghe, who -- though slightly dubious -- must accept that so far Shang Qinghua's wisdom hasn't steered him wrong with regards to his shizun's eccentricities.
Luo Binghe's mission: seduce Liu Qingge, or at least convince him to have sex, or possibly to lie and (convincingly!) tell Shen Qingqiu that they had sex. That last one is the longest shot so he's probably going to have to just fuck him (Luo Binghe still underestimates how willing his husband is to believe that just about anyone would have sex with him).
Shang Qinghua's mission: convince Shen Qingqiu that he owes his husband steamy threeway gay sex or something so that this plan he pulled out of his ass doesn't backfire and get him killed.
#svsss#bingliushen#scum villain#scum villain's self saving system#mobei jun comes over at some point to ask what his husband is doing#and shang qinghua is just like oh just solving love life problems for our mutual overlord again#and mobei jun is like I thought he was fucking your weird cucumber guy I thought that was it#so shang qinghua has to explain and mobei jun is just like oh I see we're finally getting him a respectable harem okay that makes sense#mobei jun has also been contemplating expanding his own harem#although in his case he views it more like picking out live prey to put in shang qinghua's enclosure to see if he eats it or what#just arranging some political matches he has zero intention of consummating and waiting for how long it takes them to get poisoned#or fall into lava pits or whatever#the idea amuses him#shang qinghua: my king pls don't do that I have enough headaches as it is

Random DCxDP Prompt/Thought #2
Jason Finds a Notebook in Danny's drawer, Big Capital letters on its cover written as 'Labels', He raises an eyebrow as he inspects and opens the notebook. "What's this about??" He asked, Turning his head to Danny before reading the text. "Oh that's my nicknames for people cuz I tend to forget names a lot." Danny shrugged nonchalantly as Jason flipped through the pages.
He stared dead silent for a moment at his name and it's 'labels', blinking in disbelief. "WHY DO YOU HAVE ME AS 'ANGER ISSUES', 'FUNNIER THAN JOKER', AND 'HE WHO PROBABLY HAS A FURSONA'?!" Jason read the other labels in disbelief.
His gaze landing on Bruce's 'labels', barking out a laugh as he read the first one out loud. " YOU HAVE B AS 'AUTISM SPECTRUM'?!" He yelled out with a wide amused grin, Danny laughing softly, "I mean... Just look at him..." Danny shrugged making Jason laugh out even more.

Xilinx ISE v14.7 Installation Error on Windows 10 or Windows 11 - Solved!
Xilinx ISE v14.7 is failing to install on windows 10 or windows 11, try these steps below - first check the error you are getting if the error "virtualization is not enabled in BIOS, please enable before installing." You would be getting this error at very intial state of installation process and you will see this error at Welcome page itself. This means Virtualzation is not enabled in your System BIOS and you are required to enable it first. Follow the steps to know either BIOS virtualization is enabled or disabled from windows 10 or Windows 11. Once you Enabled the BIOS Virtualzation and try to install Xilinx ISE v14.7 you may get the another Installation error at later stage - Error would be "C:\\Xilinx[14.7_VM\vboxmanage" is not recognized as an internal or external command.
